Le Méridien ~ Al Aqah Beach Resort

My iconic ‘coastal retreat’ to Fujairah’s iconic Le Méridien Al Aqah Beach Resort

This gorgeous resort is situated on a 230 meters stretch of a pristine beach. Not only is the resort fronted by the Indian ocean, it even has the most breathtaking view of the Hajar Mountains that serves as a backdrop for you 😉 . Le Méridien Al Aqah beach resort is 2 hours (164km) away from the iconic Burj Khalifa and a 1.5 hour drive from Dubai International Airport making it a perfect staycation or a serene ‘getaway’ from the hustle and bustle of a city.

The resort even offers several water sports activities to guests upon request that includes sailing, parasailing and scuba-diving! After the activity how about you relax at Le Méridien’s world class spa that is designed to rejuvenate and refresh your mind, body and most importantly your holiday! ❤

If you have any plans of having a memorable wedding by the beach, that can be done too with the help of trained staff at this beach resort . The hotel even boasts a state-of-the-art business centre and its expert secretarial services ensures every business meeting, seminar, or corporate event is a success.

Le Méridien Al Aqah Beach Resort has an array of cuisines that has the capability of satisfying even the most pampered palates. If you would like to enjoy exquisite selection of snacks and refreshing drinks at the shores of the resort, visit Gonu bar and grill. It has the most stunning view of the Indian Ocean and is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset and relax under the stars. During the day you will experience ‘Al Fresco Dining’ and will be offered delicious grills and kebabs in the dinner menu. This is the most perfect venue for a romantic moonlit dinner.

The Room

I was offered the newly renovated ‘Superior Room’ (48 square meters) that is sufficient for 2 adults or 2 adults + 2 kids and is priced from AED800. These types of rooms are located on higher floors to ignite the ‘sea view’ experience from the balcony. Best part? You will be able to wake up with the view of the Indian Ocean alongside a cup of Nespresso coffee from your own room 🙂 This room is perfect for a romantic getaway ❤
All rooms come with free Wi-Fi internet (high speed internet at a fee), walk in wardrobes and power showers. The basic toiletries are exclusively manufactured by Le Meridien itself!

The room is comfortable and the air conditioning is efficient considering how hot UAE gets during the summer. If you would like to surprise your better half, get a message or her name engraved in the sand of the beach since that is the first thing you can see from your balcony! ☀

Gonu Bar & Grill

One of the most relaxing and lively restaurants at Le Meridien Al Aqah! My experience was fantastic apart from the fact that Gonu Bar & Grill does not have air conditioning and the sun in UAE is forever scorching. The cocktails lived up to my expectations and the food was perfect – the barbecued chicken [AED90] and chicken sandwich [AED70] were beautifully seasoned and the cocktails [AED65 roughly] on the other end were not very diluted 😉 The baked lemon cheesecake [AED50] on the other end was a bit too pricey for its quantity but was delicious. The lemon flavor is not overpowering. The creme brulee [AED50] was not great as the custard was too rigid for my liking.

Astro’s Bar

According to me, this isn’t really a place young adults would love. It was filled and is more for the elderly. The atmosphere is not very ‘bar like’ either as the music is barely audible and you will come across a lot of kids on couches passing time on their iPad’s. Although the bar bites, cocktails, shooters and spirits were great, the ambiance and ‘feel’ was not very lively or ‘happening’.

Swaad (Indian Restaurant)

This Indian Restaurant definitely lives upto it’s name (‘Swaad’ translates to ‘tasty’ in Hindi). My +1 and I kicked off the tasting with a ‘Trio Chaat’ [AED55] that has 3 different types of chaat on the platter – a samosa, sev puri and dahi vada. All the 3 were crisp, delicious and warm. We then ordered a chicken dum biryani [AED100] that was delicious, less in quantity for the price you pay and had too many raisins according to me. The paneer makhani [AED75] and dal makhani [AED60] were phenomenal and had the best aroma to make anyone’s tummy scream 🙂

For dessert I had the most amazing rose kulfi [AED55] – the flavor was phenomenal and I only kept wanting for me. I even ordered quite an eerie dessert called the ‘Masala Chai Creme Brulee’ [AED55] that took my palate on a spin. I could not taste the chai in the first bite, but the following bites had a very prominent and strong taste of the masala chai! The crisp caramelized burnt layer at the top just added to the flavor. I simply loved this dessert, but I would not recommend tea haters to order this one 🙂
