Vision Boards: The Manifestation Tool Millennials Need

In a fast-paced world, we tend to lose sight of what we want in our life. Well, one way to achieve it is to ‘chart your goals’ i.e. create a vision board ÄŸŸ˜ ®

Don’t play yourself by saying it’s all bogus because they actually work and there are tons of successful people who attribute their achievements to this visualization mechanism.

A vision board is a manifestation tool based on building a collage of words and pictures that represent your dreams and goals. It revolves around the concept of ‘Law of Attraction’. It is a simple belief that the attractive magnetic power of the universe draws similar energies together ÄŸŸ ¤ © Plainly speaking, it’s how we say we need to have positive thoughts to exude good vibes. So, a vision board displays what you want to have or feel in your life, something you may read about on sites like https://wealthfulmind.com. Focusing on those aspirations by visualizing them helps in emitting powerful energy into the universe. Moreover, it motivates us to strive further in order to achieve our goals ÄŸŸ’ ª Still not convinced? Here are some celebrities who credit their triumphs to vision boards:

1. Oprah Winfrey

The popular talk show host is known for encouraging people to create vision boards ÄŸŸ’ In one of her shows, she says that the moment she came across vision boards was with the former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, with whom she was campaigning for the presidential elections. At the end of the rally, she told Oprah to envision Barack Obama as the president. Later that day, she created a vision board of Barack Obama as president and what she would wear for the inaugural. It’s safe to say that the rest is history ÄŸŸ˜ ¯

2. Steve Harvey

Another celebrity that ardently promotes this concept is Steve Harvey, a TV personality who claims that several of his desires were achieved through the undeniable effect of dream boards. He states that he puts every aspiration he has on his vision board which motivates him to have a better commitment with his profession ÄŸŸ ¤- He and his wife, Marjorie have cofounded a foundation to empower youth through education and this was one of the goals on his dream board that he had been wanting to attain for ages.

3. Ellen DeGeneres

The talk-show host and comedian has also spoken about the effectiveness of visualizing your dreams. In one of the episodes of her talk-show, Ellen admitted of having a desire of being on the cover of ‘O magazine’ and she had placed it on her vision board. Guess what? She shared the cover with Oprah Winfrey later that year ÄŸŸ ¤ ©

Even Beyoncé has disclosed in one of her interviews with CBS that she had the picture of an Academy Award on her vision board, which inspires her to excel. Katy Perry, known for music hits like ‘Teenage Dream’ and ‘The One That Got Away’, said she was nine years old when she was told to make a vision board where she pasted a photo of the legendary Latin singer Selena Quintella holding a Grammy Award. Fifteen years later, she was nominated for the same ÄŸŸ”

Everybody has different aspirations for what they want in their life. Accordingly, vision boards can be broadly classified into three, so as to suit your personal aspiration.

Type 1: The self-assured vision board

You have clarity in your desires and know what needs to be done to feel satisfied with your life (for example, you want to buy a house). Yes, of course, you would need to work hard to earn the amount of money needed to buy a house, contact a real estate agent, and do all the necessary things, but you have to get started somewhere! To support a goal of this kind, you should create this board by finding specific images of the material object. Remember that planning goes into buying a house. You just cannot wake up one day and decide that you will make a purchase. As said earlier, you have to check if you have the necessary funds, and then you have to look for Homes for Sale in Phoenix Arizona or wherever you want to buy the property. Lastly, you have to contact a buyer’s agent who can negotiate a deal on your behalf.

Type 2: ‘I’m not sure what I want but I need a change’ vision board

You are unsure of what you need exactly and may not be at peace with where you are in your life right now ÄŸŸ˜” For the change, you need to envision it by searching and placing images of things that bring you happiness in your vision board. All you need to do next is to make sure to see it daily and transfer your energy into something positive ÄŸŸ˜

Type 3: The themed vision board

This vision board is the right one for you when you want to plan a significant event in your life like a birthday, proposing to your loved one or New Year’s Eve. It could also pertain to the professional aspect of your life as the objectives are narrowed to a single theme ÄŸŸ˜ ¯

However, just relying on the manifestation of vision boards will not get you what you want. You have got to give it your all in the procedure of getting the result. At times when the going gets tough, you have to affirm yourself with positive thoughts and also learn from your mistakes as well as bad experiences ÄŸŸ’ ª With all this kept in mind, you can now move onto creating your personal vision board. When you are done, it will take no time to see how the ‘Law of Attraction’ positively affects your levels of commitment, desire and motivation. The manifested energy will help you persevere until you fulfill your ambitions. As Oprah Winfrey says, “Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life because you become what you believe.” ÄŸŸ ¤ ©

Type 4: The random vision board

This is similar to what Naomi D’Souza does. If you don’t have time to create a fancy board, just buy a long (or short) piece of glass customized for yourself. Jot down your goals with a whiteboard marker, highlight with another colour, or even add stickies – segregate career objectives, passion action items, your goals, for the next week, month, or even year. She’s attached this right in front of her bed, so if she is ever slacking off, this is a constant reminder on what she needs to do.

It is okay to slack off and detox for a week, or even a month. But always remember,

You get what you work for, not what you wish for.
