Apparently, Apple will most likely discontinue the iPhone X around mid-2018!
Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI securities, who is pretty much the king of Apple analysts, predicts that Apple will discontinue their most expensive iPhone yet ($1000+) since the second generation model is set to launch this fall. People often wait for the newer model to release so that the previous one becomes cheaper, but that may not be the case for the iPhone X! ?
The response to the phone has been less than expected since it is just too expensive. It is also not compatible with many popular Chinese apps yet, causing users to choose the 5.5 inch iPhone Plus models instead ? Lowering the price of the phone will hurt the sales of the lower-priced iPhone models. It might also negatively affect the product brand value since 3D sensing and OLED display are new high-tech features which are quite expensive to make and the components aren’t getting any cheaper! ? This rumour has come as quite a surprise since Apple does launch new iPhone models every year, but it is unusual for them to terminate a model within one year of its release.
If Kuo’s prediction is accurate, Apple’s smartphone line-up later in 2018 could consist of the second-generation 5.8-inch iPhone X (which will most likely be priced at USD 999 like its predecessor), a larger 6.5-inch version called iPhone X Plus, and the mid-range 6.1-inch iPhone ?☺
While Kuo’s track record isn’t always absolutely perfect, his information is often accurate and obtained from his sources within Apple’s supply chain. He had correctly predicted the 5.8-inch display, glass and stainless steel design, lack of Touch ID, 3D sensing, and several other features of the iPhone X well before its release! Plus there have already been a few rumours circulating about a 6.48 inch iPhone’s release, which could very well be the iPhone X Plus. Apple hasn’t commented on this yet ??
Better to have it leave the party early than overstay its welcome, I guess? What do you think?
