Taking a Practical Approach to Streetwear

Streetwear is a fashion trend that will always be around, but the definition of ‘street’ and the type of clothes it’s defined by is constantly evolving. Streetwear brands can also be surprisingly expensive given their reputation and hard-to-acquire nature. But that doesn’t mean you can’t incorporate streetwear into your everyday outfits. In fact, there are plenty of practical ways for you to put together streetwear outfits!

1. The cost will always be a factor.

Streetwear is expensive and there’s no getting around that. Thankfully, there are many ways to get the perfect items to complete your fits. For starters, try and buy things whenever they’ve been discounted. There are loads of online stores that run regular deals and discount codes, so make sure you sign up for their newsletters to get the latest. Next, don’t just focus on high-end brands. You can get a lot of mileage out of cheaper items that are comfortable and long-lasting. While streetwear is a lot about the brand, it’s also about personal expression and feeling comfortable in what you wear. Besides, a lot of high-end fashion doesn’t even have obvious branding on it and unless you’re in the know, the people on the street that you’re flexing on won’t have a clue what you’re wearing.

2. Don’t forget about accessories

There are loads of different accessories that you can use as part of your outfits. Be it watches, bracelets, a simple necklace, or earrings–there are countless choices for you to pick from! But it’s also important to be practical with your accessories. You don’t want to spend over 30 minutes picking out accessories. You could also incorporate streetwear into areas like your glasses. Celebrity style frames can look fantastic with a streetwear aesthetic. It can help to frame your face and it’s better than wearing cheap glasses with an uninspired design.

3. Being unique isn’t always a good thing

Design has a huge impact on our lives and it’s not uncommon to go out of your way to try and achieve something more unique or different with your outfits. However, being unique isn’t always a good thing. Trying to stand out all the time can lead you to wear some strange or eccentric pieces of clothing that you don’t feel comfortable in. Staying with established brands and comfortable clothes is a bigger priority than simply trying to be different!

4. Focus on comfort

Streetwear is worn when you’re outside carrying out your daily tasks. You’ll be moving around a lot in streetwear and you’ll be exposed to the elements, so focusing on comfort is more important than you might think. It’s important that you don’t just wear something for the brand. Instead, you should think about how comfortable you are in your clothes and pick items that you can move around in. A comfortable hoodie and jacket combination in the winter is a staple for many people, and even wearing jogging bottoms outside isn’t a huge deal anymore because people have realized how comfortable and flexible they are compared to a tight pair of jeans!
