Top 7 healthy treats to get a Dessert fix in Dubai
Ever since I started my intolerance diet I’ve been on the look out for healthy home-grown dessert joints. There are several restaurants in UAE that serve Gluten Free, Dairy free, and Vegan desserts but I specifically was on the look out for snacks, quick eats and ones that would deliver the treats to my houses versus me going to a restaurant that’s a wee bit tedious.
The Below is NOT in Ranking Order.
Currently, I’m on a gluten free, dairy free, yeast free diet. Which means, cakes, desserts, and everything drool-worthy is off limits. Finding the right bakery that does not compromise on quality or taste is… luxury for me. The past month I’ve found the below, if you think I’m missing out on any, please let me know.
1. The Snack Society by Kamilla Omarzay
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I pretty much survive on Kamilla’s treats. Everything she makes is dairy and gluten free. She was the one who showed me desserts can be healthy and does not need to have dairy, refined sugar or gluten. Being a person who loves dessert, the variety of healthy treats she creates was the best-thing-ever for me. From cheesecakes to cookies and truffles, she does it all.
Kamilla is even kind enough to share her recipes with the rest of the world. You can find them here.
How to order: Kamilla is currently not taking orders as she’s quite occupied and working on her cookbook and will soon launch in stores, until then, check her recipes out, they’re so effortless and you’ll be done in 10 minutes tops! If you want to contact her, DM @TheSnackSociety on Instagram or email [email protected]
2. Eats & Treats by Eliane Kozal
Eliane from Eats & Treats is known for her healthy vegan, gluten free and dairy free donuts. She even makes delicious and beautiful allergy-free cakes for special occasions! I’ve tried a couple of her donut flavors but my favorite is the chocolate covered and stuffed donuts. I wouldn’t say they’re super duper soft like regular (fried) donuts, these are baked, more rigid/compact and feels like you’re eating cake in the shape of a donut, tbh, I kinda prefer these more. They feel much lighter, you could easily pop in 2 without even feeling guilty. Additionally, they aren’t excessively sweet.
How to order: You can either contact Eliane directly via DM or buy them directly from Sunny Ville located at JLT (Jumeirah Lake Towers)
3. Protein Bakeshop by Rashi Chowdhary
I would say Protein Bakeshop is more of a well-established home-grown brand as it’s been there for a while now, thus, have a fixed batch of products they produce and sell. They’re already available at several gyms, studios, groceries, and mini-marts. Although I like a couple of their treats, there are a few I don’t, such as the fitscuit and chocolate stacks. I personally found them too bitter and dry for my liking. What I do love are the peanut butter truffles.
How to order: Either purchase them from your nearest store or order online on www.proteinbakeshop.com/ae/. They have free delivery on orders over AED100.
4. Encas Sweet Escapes by Justine Dampt
According to me, Encas is the Laduree of healthy treats in Dubai. They’ve got the most sophisticated yet elegant packaging, delicious and a great variety of flavors, but a wee bit pricey for the quantity. Encas is popular for 2 things: the spreads and ‘squares’. The square indulgence is a mix of natural ingredients into three different layers: a biscuit base, a mouth-watering filling, and a crackling chocolate top. My favorite was the caramel peanut and coconut dark chocolate.
Justine also shares her recipes on her website (yay!) You can find them here.
How to order: You can either contact Justine directly via DM or buy them online from www.encas.me/collections/carre-products
I’ve been hearing a lot about healthy patisserie recently. Once I try her stuff I’ll definitely let you know what I love. But, apparently, her stuff is so good that you will not even be able to tell it’s Sugar Free, Dairy Free, Gluten Free, and Vegan.
How to order: Online at www.healthy-patisserie.com/order-online
6. Honeymelts
Ever since I went gluten and dairy free, Nutella was one thing I REALLY missed. Having hazelnut tarts that are not too sweet and even moist – win-win. Honeymelts nuts-based granola as well with almonds, walnuts, etc were so delish, I could even munch on them the way they are, without any form of milk or curd! The one thing I didn’t like too much were the raspberry truffles (I’m personally not a fan of raspberry since they’re too sour).
How to order: Online at https://buy-honeymelts.myshopify.com/
Here’s another bakery that creates normal desserts but also makes Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Vegan, Refined Sugar-Free, jars. The chocolate mousse and chocolate cake in a jar were my favourite!
How to order: DM them on Instagram @candycoutureco
Last but not least,
Tatiana from Health & Yum
I did not add her to the list at the top as she doesn’t sell her products. She’s popularly known in Dubai for the amazing recipes she creates, from cakes, icecreams, to BBQ sauce and falafels, Tatiana has it all! Check em out in her website.
