6 ways to reduce stubborn fat without going under the knife!

Non-invasive fat reduction treatments are exactly as they sound (i.e. treatments that use non-surgical methods to reduce the fat pockets that sit underneath the skin) ? Though each treatment has its own unique method, they ultimately all have the same objective, to destroy fat cells.

Some treatments do this by using radiofrequency to damage the fat cells, some do it by freezing the fat cells to death (literally) ❄, and others do it by exposing the fat cells to heat ?

The pros of non-invasive fat reduction? Since there is no surgery done to the body, these treatments require a lot less-to-no recovery time as compared to surgical methods. It also involves less swelling and pain, as well as a lower chance of infection ?

However, these treatments also have their own downfalls. Non-invasive fat reduction treatments don’t actually result in an instant fat reduction. In fact, the treatment may take several sessions (aka several weeks or even months) to show its final result. ? Since non-invasive fat reduction is an external treatment, surgeons may not be able to effectively work with the fat cells in difficult areas, or in patients who have a good amount of scar tissues. Hence, this treatment may not be the right choice for people who need large portions of fat removed. ?

Few pointers before you proceed with this blogpost;

  • Few of my followers and friends asked for the article, thus the research was done. Please do your own in-depth research as well, including reading reviews online, before you proceed with a procedure.
  • Recommendations on where to get it done are mentioned but have not been tried and tested by us, neither have these brands sponsored this blog post. This article was only developed as it was requested by many.
  • Everyone has their own goal weight, it has nothing to do with not being confident in your own skin. If you want to do it, you just want to. Again, this was a highly requested article.

1. Coolsculpting

What: CoolSculpting, also known as cryolipolysis, is a non-invasive fat reduction method in which fat cells are removed by freezing. A plastic surgeon first uses a device to freeze the desired fat cells in the body. ❄️ Once these cells have been frozen and destroyed, they are slowly broken down and removed from the body through the liver. It is most often used to treat the stomach, thighs, love hands, double chins and arms. It has also been approved by the FDA to reduce fat around the bra strap area, on the back, and underneath the buttocks. The procedure usually takes a few days to start showing its effects, but could also take 1 to 4 months in some cases. ?

Pros and Cons: CoolSculpting is a non-invasive fat reduction method. In other words, no surgery is necessary. ? Once the fat cools, it ceases to function. The body then sees the cells as waste and removes them permanently. Since the fat removal is done through the body’s natural method, there are reduced side effects and no recovery time is required. ? The procedure is also said to involve no pain nor discomfort.

However, the procedure does not show immediate results. The body will start to show a difference only once the damaged fat cells are removed- which may take days or even weeks. ?‍♂️ Another drawback of the method is that it is only meant to work on patients with problematic areas. It cannot be used to tackle obesity or weight loss.

Where you can do it in Dubai: Amongst many centers, CoolSculpting can be done at Lucia Aesthetic and Dermatology Center & Clinic in Jumeirah, Cocoona Centre in Mirdif, The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital and Nova Clinic in Dubai.

Cost: CoolSculpting can be done in one to three sessions, for AED 1000 a session.

2. Sculpsure

What: Sculpsure uses the same idea as Coolsculpting. Instead of freezing fat cells, the fat cells are killed using heat. ? An applicator is placed over the treatment areas, after which a laser is used to kill the fat cells in the area. Once the fat cells are completely damaged, the body naturally disposes it off. This method takes approximately 3 months to show complete results. Sculpsure has been FDA approved to treat the stomach, “love handles”, back, thighs, and chin. ?

Pros and Cons: The Sculpsure treatment usually only requires 1 session, making it cheaper than CoolSculpting, which requires multiple sessions. One session normally takes 25 minutes, and 4 areas can be treated at a time. It is also FDA approved for laser fat reduction. ? It can remove up to 25 percent of fat in the treated areas, and most patients can immediately return to regular activities after their Sculpsure treatment without any necessary downtime. The results are long lasting, provided the patient maintains a healthy weight and has good overall health. ?

However, like CoolSculpting, Sculpsure also requires a considerable amount of time to show results. The body may start to show results in six weeks from the treatment, with the final results becoming visible within 12 weeks. ⏳

Where you can do it in Dubai: Sculpsure can be done at Dr. Simin Medical Center and at Bella Roma Medical & Aesthetic Surgery Center in Jumeirah.

Cost: Prices start from AED 4,000 and may increase on the basis of the size of area and amount of fat to be treated.

3. Zerona

What: The Zerona Laser Treatment uses cold laser technology to liquefy the fat within the cell. The liquefied fat is then drained through the lymphatic system, which then results in the fat cells becoming smaller so there is a significant reduction in the waist, hips and thighs. ? Depending on the body type, the zerona laser treatment may take around 6 to 15 sessions. Each session is approximately 40 minutes. The treatment is most often used to treat “love handles”, tummy bulges and “saddlebags” on the body. The results of the treatment can be seen in approximately 2 weeks for most. ✌

Pros and Cons: The Zerona laser treatment is a completely safe and pain-free method of body sculpting. ? There is no downtime required. Average patients lose 5 to 6 inches of fat within a few weeks, though the results will vary depending on the person. ? However, since this is a relatively new procedure, there have not been any long-term studies to prove the effectiveness of the treatment. The Zerona treatment alone also cannot guarantee that the fat won’t return. Ensuring a healthy diet is key to maintaining the resultant body. ?

Where you can do it in Dubai: The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital in Dubai Healthcare City and the Bionix Body Designers in Bur Dubai are a few of the places that provide this treatment.

Cost: The treatment costs approximately AED 5,000 though prices may vary on the basis of the size of area and amount of fat to be treated.

4. Laser Lipolysis

What: Laser lipolysis is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses heat from fiber optic laser to melt away the fat under the skin. ? Also known as laser lipolysis, it is most used for fat removal from certain areas such as the stomach, upper arms, upper thighs, “love handles”, and chin. First, a small incision is made and a tiny laser is inserted to melt the fat underneath. Then with the help of a tiny tube, your clinician will suck the melted fat out from underneath the skin. ? Most clinicians recommend a few days of downtime after the treatment, and around 3 weeks before participating in any tiring and strenuous activities.  ?

Pros and Cons: The effects of a laser lipo treatment are immediate and do not need time to show.

However, unlike the other treatments, Laser Lipo may require a few days of downtime afterwards. Like all surgical procedures, laser lipo also carried the risk of infection, bleeding, nerve injury, adverse reaction to anesthesia, and blood clots. ? The liposuction treatment also carries a few additional risks such as contour irregularity, seroma, skin discoloration and burn. ?

Where you can do it in Dubai: The Montreal International Clinic in Jumeirah and Dubai Cosmetic Surgery in Umm Suqeim are few of the places in Dubai that offer this treatment.

Cost: The average cost of laser liposuction in Dubai starts from  AED 20,000. However, this may vary depending on the size of area and amount of fat to be treated.

5. Hypoxi

What: HYPOXI is one of the most effective treatments for reducing excess fat and cellulite. HYPOXI consists of several different treatments, each one focusing on fat loss on different areas of the body. ? It results in both fat loss as well as cellulite reduction and can be used for the belly, buttocks, hips and thighs. This treatment is also popular among celebrities all over the world. ?

Instagram will load in the frontend.

Pros and Cons: The sessions are quick and usually last for only 30 minutes. The program is highly personalized to effectively cater to each individuals’ needs. It results in both fat loss as well as cellulite reduction. ?

HYPOXI doesn’t work in just one session. For best results, the treatment recommends 3 sessions a week for 4 weeks (12 sessions in total). ? However, this depends on the weight loss goals of the patient and can even stretch up to 3 sessions a week for 8 to 12 weeks. There are also rules about what you can eat and when you can eat it that must be followed during the HYPOXI treatment.

Where you can do it in Dubai: HYPOXI UAE and BodySmart in Barsha Heights and Machka Beauty & Body Design in Umm Suqeim are some of the places that offer this treatment. ?

Cost: HYPOXI costs approximately AED 1,800 for 15 sessions of L250/S120, which focuses on the buttocks hips, thighs and cellulite and AED 2,000 for 12 sessions of Vacunaut, aimed at reducing love handles, belly and the midsection.

6. Vanquish

What: Vanquish is a non-invasive treatment used to treat the excess fat around the abdomen area and for thighs. It uses radiofrequency to target the fat layer of skin, after which the damaged fat cells are cleared naturally by the body. ? The treatment is painless and requires a series of four, 45-minute treatments, all a week apart. The results are permanent and can be maintained, provided a healthy weight and lifestyle is upheld. ?

Pros and Cons: Vanquish is a non-invasive treatment, and thus comes with minimal risk of side effects. The treatment causes no pain or discomfort, and no downtime is required afterwards. ? Most patients can return to normal daily activities right after the treatment. Vanquish also shows the fastest results, usually in just a few weeks. Some patients even see results as quickly as right after their first treatment! ?

The risks of the treatment include inflammation of the fat and it may turn red, but this is temporary and will subside.

Where you can do it in Dubai: The Bloom Aesthetic and Laser Clinic in Jumeirah, Emirates Specialty Hospital in Dubai Healthcare City and FirstMed Day Surgery Center in Deira are few of places that offer this treatment.

Cost: The treatment costs approximately AED 1,000 per session, but may vary on the basis of the size and areas to be treated.
